5 ways to store your magazines

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! Mine was filled with lots of fun stuff. We went to the first outdoor festival in Amsterdam which was very cold (5 degrees Celsius cold) but really fun! At midnight we celebrated the fact that I was turning 26! Oh my… but went for a Easter egg hunt the next day so I didn’t get the time to feel old ;) The weekend was about friends, family, food, easter eggs, the best birthday gifts (and song!) ever and the new episode of Game of Thrones. Yay!

My boyfriend gave me some really cool vintage orange chairs for my birthday (pictures will follow soon) which made me eager to change the whole interior too. But luckely for him I’ve found enough satisfaction in getting inspiration on how to store all my fashion and interior magazines instead. Here are my five favorite ways to store your magazines.

1. Use an old wooden crate to store your favorite magazines. I love idea of combining to different sizes like the normal size and the smaller Ikea catalogue size.

2. It is very logical to use magazine racks to keep your magazines in and that’s what I love about this one. It is so simple, but by lining them all up against the wall it looks like the most clever idea ever.

3. Some magazine cover are to beautiful not the show. These racks make it possible to create your own magazine wall. I especially like the thin metal and the simple yet artistic design.

4. Make a new nightstand with a pile of magazines. I already spotted the magazine nightstand a few times before, but I think it is time to actually make one. It would make a good side table as well if you ask me.

5. If you are ever that lucky to find a beautiful vintage magazine cabinet like thise one don’t you dare not buying it. This would be the perfect way for me to keep al my favorite magazines in one place. Time for some serious thrift shopping!

DIY round-up

DIY round-up

As long as I can remember I’ve always been surrounded by creative people. My mom made me and my sister little dolls, big dolls, birthday dresses, headbands and so on. She definitely got that from her mom, just like me! In primary school I learned how to knit, sew and stitch and when my “prom” (we don’t call it prom, but it’s the best translation though) finally arrived me and my mom made my own dress. Oh I was so proud! It was a very Marilyn Monroe kinda dress and it had flowers all over it. I really need to find it soon. It must be somewhere…

However, the dress was not what I wanted to talk to you about. It’s about all the D.I.Y. projects I collect during eh.. every single day. The fact is, I collect them, but I don’t execute them. Shame on me! I now decided to first share them with you and make time to do some of them, finally, this summer.

White, sunny and bright!

Had the best weekend since a long time. I had a fun day at work and some fine wine, good talks with some friends after. And the Sunday was a great day! We spend it with our dearest friends, a lot of food, drinks and it just gave me that happy feeling some people give you. These days make me so thankful for all the great people around me.

Last minute DIY: Easter edition

Chocolate Easter eggs are already for sale for months (!!!) but now it’s finally here.
I’m not the typical holiday person but I’m a sucker for the cosiness (is that a word?), the little DIY project and, of course, all the delicious and funny food :) Like painted Easter eggs! When I was younger we always decorated our own eggs at school and at home. Most of the times it resulted in multi colored hands, dresses and tablecloths but we had a lot of fun. When getting older painting eggs wasn’t one of our priorities anymore until the day I had a sleepover with some girlfriends. I remember the mom bringing all the eggs inside and told us we had to decorate them. We had so much fun, just like the old days! The next day we all went outside to play a little hide and seek game.

This year I totally forgot about the eggs! I have to work today and we’ll have some friends over tonight for a very belated housewarming and some good food and maybe a little dance. I could bring some eggs and paint as a DIY surprise… Worked for us girls a few years ago. We’ll see!
